Coal Reality

Coal and CSG mining are destroying precious wetlands and damaging our drinking water catchment, as Stuart Khan showed a full house at our Coal Reality meeting last night. They’re also *losing* money as the world shifts to renewable energy, as Tim Buckley explained. Yet our governments still subsidise these old polluting industries …while taking their donations.

A full house at Hazelhurst Theatrette on 31 May for “Coal Reality”, Stuart Khan (UNSW Water Quality Researcher. Associate Professor in Environmental Engineering) explained the impact of existing and future coal mines on Sydney’s water supply.
Tim Buckley (Director of the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis Australasia) spoke about how the global transition in electricity is affecting the value of fossil fuel industries.

Both presentations are available for download.
