Electrify Bundeena!

10 September, 2023 , 10:00 am 12:30 pm AEST

We’re very excited to announce the launch of a new community-run initiative – Electrify Bundeena!  The aim is to help support local residents electrify their homes and vehicles, and power these with 100% renewable energy.

The formal launch is 10am this coming Sunday 10 September 2023, at the Bundeena Community Centre. All are welcome!

This is a local project inspired by the work of inventor, engineer, scientist and author, Saul Griffith. His Electrify 2515 project began in Austinmer and has already drawn the attention of media and policy makers.

Similar community groups are springing up around Australia and are showing the way for ordinary people to take meaningful climate action.  A massive 42% of Australia’s carbon emissions come from households, so we can all play a big part in fixing that problem.

By switching on to renewable energy there’s also the potential to save thousands each year.

Sutherland Shire Environment Centre is proud to be supporting Electrify Bundeena as part of this movement, and keen to share its inspiration, ideas, and learnings with the rest of the Sutherland Shire (and beyond!)

We’ll be outlining what the campaign is aiming to achieve, and how we plan to get there. There will be brief introductory presentations on solar PV systems, home batteries, heat pumps, electric vehicles, and energy efficient home appliances.  We’ll be running more detailed information sessions on each of these over the coming months. Bulk buys and community batteries are also on the agenda.

Come along and be electrified!
