The Koalas @ Audley Dance Hall with Filmmaker Q&A

21 September , 6:30 pm 9:00 pm AEST

We’re so pleased to announce a special local screening of the acclaimed feature documentary THE KOALAS now at Audley Dance Hall on Saturday, 21 September.

There will be a Q&A after the screening with the Sutherland Shire based filmmakers Gregory Miller and Georgia Wallace-Crabbe, and guest speakers to be announced. The Audley Dance Hall Cafe will be open from 5.30, so you’ll be able to catch up with friends before the film, and order a light dinner if you like. A full bar will be open also. (Please note – food and drinks are not included in the ticket price.)

The Koalas takes audiences on a journey into the lives of individual koalas.  Our well travelled local koala Wonnie is one of the stars, and the film starts with his rescue and release at Woronora.  Just in the last month we’ve had five koalas hit on local roads.  Ongoing threats to them here are very real.

Other charismatic koala characters in the film include Bexley, Tom, Baz, Coral, and the joeys Hope and Pala.

As their stories unfold, we witness the unique characteristics of koalas, their bond with their young, and the wildlife carers they come into contact with as well as learn about the threats they face. These seven koalas are ambassadors for all koalas – who face an uncertain future.

Tickets are: $15 full price, $12 Concession.

5.30pm-6.30pm Food and beverage service.
6.30pm-8pm Screening
8pm-9pm Q and A, with ice creams and popcorn for sale after the screening.
9pm Event finish / bar closes

The film was made with support from WIRES, WWF Australia, Sutherland Shire Environment Centre, the National Parks Association of NSW, and Documentary Australia. This screening is supported by a LEAF grant from Sutherland Shire Environment Centre. Funds from ticket sales will help support the film’s impact release campaign and educational outreach.
