Yarra Bay Beach Clean Community Day

3 November, 2019 @ 10:00 am 5:00 pm AEDT

Please join us this Sunday 3rd November at Yarra Bay for a very special beach clean up and community day. Communities that share responsibility for Botany Bay are coming together to create awareness of plastic pollution and to save Yarra Bay and Botany Bay from a cruise ship terminal.

We share the beautiful Botany Bay and this special day is hosted by the protectourone SO SHIRE and Save the Bay Coalition (Save Yarra Bay Coalition).

Meet at Bicentennial Park for 10am start with a smoking ceremony, meditation to connect to the beautiful environment, fun yoga for all ages, and beach clean up including an AUSMAP microplastics survey. Depending on the wind, we may even get to audit the litter items collected for Tangaroa Blue Foundation’s AMDI Database.

Free BBQ by Yarra Bay Sailing Club  and healthy snacks provided by Nature Bake Australia for volunteers and supporters.

All equipment supplied by the hosts and with the assistance of Bunnings East Gardens – but please bring your reusable gloves,  zero waste food and drink bottle reusables and please remember sun protection.

Raffle and prizes donated by Juice Box Cafe Malabar, Nostimo Cafe Malabar and Bunnings East Gardens.

We thank all our other community day  supporters who will be there on the day including Randwick City Council, Clean Up Australia Day, La Perouse Boardriders, North Maroubra Surfriders, Rise Foundation, Bendigo Bank Clovelly Branch, Boomerang Bags Sydney Eastern Suburbs.

In case you’re unaware, this beautiful part of Sydney is at risk of being turned into a mega cruise terminal – come along and enjoy the beauty while it’s still here. To learn more about the NSW Government’s proposal see https://SaveYarraBay.com

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodial Owners of Country across Australia and all lands, We give our respect and time to Elders past and present.

We believe the cruise ship terminal will add to the pollution, congestion and destruction on this special part of Sydney – it will be detrimental to the environment and community ‘flow’.  Yarra Bay is an Aboriginal word meaning flowing. It is believed to have originally been the name of the creek which flowed into Botany Bay between Frenchmans and Yarra Bays.
