Help protect our parks – stand for an NPA position during 2019

Spread the love

NPA is presently facing many significant and unprecedented challenges to our natural areas – weakened land clearing laws, intensified logging of native forests, an underfunded and demoralised National Parks and Wildlife Service, damage to alpine areas by feral horses, theft and rorting of water in the Murray Darling. the list goes on.

Responding effectively to these and other threats – and charting a positive way forward – depends on know-how, skills and leadership generously contributed by NPA members. With the end of the year fast approaching, we are seeking members who would like to get involved and make a difference during 2019.

State Council

The NPA State Council comprises member delegates and activists from across NSW. It sets conservation policy and coordinates responses by our network of member branches and groups. Meetings are held 3 times per year on weekends at various locations around the State.

We are looking for members who are keen to advance conservation interests, either generally or for particular regions or sectors. Specialist knowledge or interest in the following fields is particularly sought:

* Native forests
* Northern Sydney
* Inland rivers
* Western Sydney / Blue Mountains
* Marine
* Monaro / Kosciuszko
* Cultural heritage
* Central West / Far West regions
* Nature-based activities
* Riverina Murray region

Find out more in the information sheet and application form. Applications close 4pm, 28 Sept 2018.

Executive

The Executive is responsible for NPA’s financial and operational affairs and oversees implementation of the strategic plan. Positions are elected annually by the State Council. Meetings are held 8 times per year in Sydney.

Nominations are invited for the positions of President, Senior Vice President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and (4) ordinary Executive members. Positions are open to all NPA members.

Find out more in the information sheet and nomination form. Nominations close 4pm, 28 Sept 2018.

Help out in other ways
